Just got back from my local Montblanc Boutique after receiving a call from them this morning.

or tightened up on the quality control with the rehaut rings.  The edges appear to be sharp and without defects.

Can you do me a favor?

Shoot a pic of the Rieussec presentation box and give me your impression of its quality.

Mike - I took some quick pictures of the outer box and inner box.

I remember when I first started collecting watches how exciting it was to peel away the layers - outer box, inner box, etc. The very first impression was the box! A high quality wood box like a Panerai, IWC, Blancpain,etc. always made my heart beat faster. Once the watch was firmly on the wrist, the presentation materials/boxes were put away in storage with the focus on the obvious - the watch. So, it raises an interesting issue, how important is the overall presentation and the boxes that contain our timepieces. The Panerai presentation is arguably at one extreme while the Rolex presentation arguably at the other extreme. I would say the presentation for the Montblanc is closer to the Rolex presentation than the Panerai presentation. Fairly mundane packaging, plastic (I think) black inner box of average quality with a basic interior. It definitely did not make my heart beat faster. I hope they will be using something quite a bit different for the Villeret 1858 collection and my recommendation would be to take it up a notch for the Rieussecs

Congratulations!  Why 5 months?  is that the queue fro the steel Rieussecs now?

I like the Bull Face watch, that is the nickname of the Rieussec Chronograph because the dial look like a bull's face with nose-ring.  This is not the same as the Seiko Bulls Head chronograph of the 1970s.

The steel case seems more practical for daily wear.

This is a good story!

The first time I wandered into a Montblanc Boutique and inquired into the Rieussecs in general (back in July 2009) I was told that the only models currently available were the manual versions in precious metal. I asked if they could get me an automatic. A few days later I was told they could get me a gray dialed version in a few weeks. In fact, a week later I was able to try a gray dialed Rieussec on. I explained that I was interested in the all white/silver dial. At first they told me that they did not make a version like this! The truth was, this version was not yet listed in their brochures! I sent the local boutique a picture and model number (thank you Purists!) and they came back and told me that I was right but that there were none in the U.S. and none were expected for quite some time. I told them to put my name on the waiting list.

The people at the local boutique were fantastic and kept on top of it trying their best to source one for me. Finally, after 5 months, it showed up! Well worth the wait.

perhaps the two tone was more in demand.
