released in 2006 in celebration of Montblanc's 100th Anniversary?

I think its base is a Valjoux 7750 which obviously has undergone a tremendous amount of modifications similar to the IWC Davinci series. In fact the styling reminds me of this model as well.
Even more interesting would be if anyone has actually seen the one of three specimens produced in platinum.

I wonder why the Date button next to the crown is on opposing sides of the crown in these 2 models. Anyone know why?
Cheers,
Anthony
Need to see it in real life. Anyone know where I can find this limited edition of three?

Looking at the picture they sent me, I am a bit curious however ..... it seems to me that the push button of setting the date is on the opposite site of the crown - as compared to the original photo in 2006. Also, it seems that the dial has a different color.
Any opinion from you guys?

Hi JB,
The "button" you see on opposite sides of the crown is the unique Montblanc patented locking mechanism. That is why on some pictures it is seen differently.
Here is a profile shot and I hope you will understand

(US patent # 7404669B2).
It allows the owner to have two fold control function with the crown in the same axial position making it possible, for instance, to control a timezone function when the crown is rotated in the first direction, and a date setting function when the crown is rotated in the opposite direction. Inadvertant rotation away from the desired directed is "blocked" by the control lever.
I hope this helps...I bet you can negoiate a bit on the price the boutique quoted you. On a certain level, I think this is a more compelling watch than its cousin the IWC. But from a watch "snob" POV, I think most enthusiasts, if given a choice, would probably choose the IWC. This is just the uphill battle which MB has to continuously fight to overcome and it will take more than the recent 5 years.
Best, Mike
