I acquired my first Lange some 10 years ago. It was a 1815 in white gold, with a black dial and a case diameter of 36/37mm which was rather small by today's standards, so I rather foolishly parted with it
Fortunately, I had the chance to make amends when Lange launched a new model to celebrate the 200th birthday of Ferdinand A Lange, founder of Saxon precision watchmaking.
This time, the watch is made in a limited edition of 200 pieces, with a 40mm platinum case.
After a wait of two months (which seemed like eternity), my piece (bearing a lucky number) finally arrived.
The dial is in solid silver style, with Arabic numerals, a recessed central segment and a railway-track minute scale:
The movement is Caliber L051.1, with 188 parts and 23 jewels. It has a power reserve of 55 hours and a stop-seconds function, and beats at a frequency of 21,600 semi-oscillations per hour:
Getting acquainted with its Lange brothers in white metals:
Here is an obligatory wrist-shot. I should add because of the weight, it sits comfortably on the wrist. The watch is also rather dressy, and goes well with a suit.
Finally, resting in a box with other "time only" watches:
Thanks for looking.
Sam
I found the size just right, for a dress watch.
I will PM you regarding price.

even though you waited for the lucky no.! It's a nice and elegant piece no doubt and goes perfectly well with your other time only watches.
I find it very tempting too and perhaps I may join you if I'm lucky enough.
Huge congrats my friend!
cheers

In fact, the watch will go very well with your Langes in blue and black dials, notably the Cabaret :P

Congratulations to your latest Lange addition!
Pleased for you to see that all went perfect for you and that you have secured your favourite number too.
I am sure it can be dressed up and down as one pleases but it will always be the finishing touch of elegance and style.
A very nice, special Lange.
Off topic: also congratulations to your Moritz Grossmann.

I loved this piece since I first saw it.
Some might quibble that Lange should have done something a bit more fitting for the 200th anniversary, but it's hard to object to the purity of this piece. Simple, refined and rare, with all of Lange's pure excellence embodied here. And there has always been something special IMO to the black dial platinum Langes.
Congratulations on such a nice piece.
Cheers,
John
I could not have said it any better.
Agreed totally with you.
