High horology, precision and premier craftsmanship were commemorated in fine fashion with the launch of one of the world’s best chronographs, A. Lange & Söhne’s Datograph Up/Down, at one of Singapore’s newest fine dining restaurant, Bistecca Tuscan Steakhouse on 19th July 2012.

As the guests arrived, they were treated to interactive activity tables that demonstrated various watch-making techniques such as the polishing of minute watch components on diamond paper, one of the many finishing techniques employed at A. Lange & Söhne, as well as the assembly of minute regulatory screws onto the balance wheel. In the spirit of fine German craftsmanship, Leica Camera was also invited to be a partner for this launch event. All guests were loaned a Leica D-Lux 5, an elegant compact digital camera, to capture their very own memories of the special evening.

In addition, a photo competition was held where guests were encouraged to style and compose their own picture with the star of the evening – The A. Lange & Söhne Datograph Up/Down. Of course, an outstanding timepiece such as this is worthy of being shot by only the best cameras and in this case, a Leica S2, a professional S-system with innovative technology was used.

A guest admiring the A. Lange & Söhne Datograph Up/Down
Indeed, it was an evening where the best in German artistry was celebrated with an excellent meal and wonderful company.
... taken over the shoulder of a guest is cool!
Thank you for the impressions from a certainly enjoyable event from Lange.

I think I could handle 41mm size in this case. Long PR is the biggest appealing point.
Let's see how the public judges it......
-
It seems as if the new one is thechnically upgraded a lot by new higher power reserve, the inhouse hairspring and also an inhouse mainspring ... .
The powerse reserve indicator is the main DESIGN criticism for many, as it is a consequence of the new,
stronger mainspring.
But it is consequently necessary as the old Malteser cross has been replaced by it.
Now, that cross prevented the user from overwinding.
For what reason they do not use it for the new Dato is just speculation:
- possibly too expensive
- possibly too thick
Technically I find it a bit sad and a bit "technically simple" to abandon the Malteser cross, which is a traditional (a Lange reference!) tool in a watch.
From the design and look aspect?
Should be very, very nice looking in a wider case!

Thanks for sharing pics of this event that seems to have touch the skies.
I find particularly interesting to invite guests to photoshoot the watch.
I presume you had a great night.
Cheers,
Mark
PS : do you have a picture taken there to share ?
-...again unashamedly assuming that whats you are asking for when you "requested" for photo?I think you kept up very well with your photoshooting Horo
By the way I find this Red gold RL's blue strap quite dary and nice
Cheers,
Mark

but I can understand it very much.
You know I had a 1815 "new version" for a while (watch I was not satisfied with on an aesthetics standpoint) but I always found the RL much more attractive to me. Especially the roman numerals that are thin and long which is very elegant. The second hand also adds pureness to this elegance.
A great pair you have there!
Best,
Mark

I kept all my pics as it remains a beautiful timpiece and is perfectly finished. I know I'll come back to Lange, but the pb with this brand is: which one !
You have a very nice collection Horo, bravo

Cheers,
Mark
