Hello,

I had stowed away my saxonia in its box wrapped around its pillow cushion for about a year. Today when I opened the watch to wear it I found that the pillow was stuck to the watch so I pulled firmly on the watch to get it out.  Now I am scared I didn't damage the watch in any way  (it the holes in the lugs that contain the ends of the springbars). This may sound being overly concerned but I guess we lange enthusiasts are.  I guess the question is, how much of a force will these take?

Absolutely no cause for worry. The cushion is a soft material and has no abrasive on it. Typically humidity causes the satin/silk/cotton on the cushion to stick to the watch. It may be best to keep a tiny ( really tiny) packet of silica get inside your watch box to prevent this. Whenever the silica gel changes color ( basically it will lose color) it is time to change the packet.

The watch sapphire crystal will have no risk of damage.

Moral of the story : Wear your watch often...

Thanks for the response. I actually wanted to know if a firm pull on the watch to pull it out of the case would not have caused the lug holes (where the leather strap attaches) to have widened or something. The situation was that the watch was tied around the cushion and placed in its box. You are correct, that over the period of one year the cushion sort of stuck to the container. The watch looks fine but being an expensive watch such as this, this thought just set in my mind.

Because believe me, you would have noticed very quickly that something was wrong.
