A. Lange & Söhne

As promised, here's the version suggested by F.X. (please follow this link alang.watchprosite.com )

First of all, I've eliminated the city indicator arrow and the current time day/night indicator. Instead of the latter, I've placed the alarm on/off indicator.

Then, I've cut the outer city ring and resized the obtained dial (30,5 mm.) to 33 mm., that is the dial dimension of a Lange 1 with a 38,5 mm. standard case.

I'm sorry, this isn't the right way to proceed from a technical point of view, but it save a lot of work, otherwise I should resize and reposition the dial writings and the power reserve hand.

To save time, instead of adding a pusher to the standard 38,5 mm. case, I've resized the 41,9 mm. one, thus obtaining a slightly bad proportioned case; for example you can notice that the crown is a bit small.

At this point, I'd like to specify that one of the reasons why my first prototypes were based on the Grand Lange was the fact that its case has enough room for the alarm gongs. I'm not sure a standard one could work well with them.

Unlike the first proposals, this timepiece hasn't a second crown; the alarm complication could be operated via the crown at 3, while the push-button at 8 is used to switch the alarm on and off. Another inseresting feature of this proposal is that the alarm could be set on a 24 hour base, thanks to the specific day/night indicator.

This time, there's very little vector graphics work.

I don't know if this picture represents what F.X. had in mind. I honestly have to say that this design doesn't entirely satisfy me, since I find it a bit boring, a nothing-exciting-déja vu.

And you are right: it is a bit boring at the end. My idea is too formal and lacks of spice. Finding the right way between daring and classic styles is difficult !

Maybe the Richard Lange would be another nice base for an alarm watch: of course, the idea is not to create a Memovox by Lange...

BTW, I think we are here a lot of fans who expect an alarm watch from Lange. It would be a nice way for Lange to be a bit more ambitious than with the Zeitwerk Striking Time and... the price would be more affordable than a Minute Repeater or a Grande Sonnerie.

That is a much, much better layout than your Grande Lange attempt.

Although it was not too bad and suited the Grande quite well, this one is appelaing at first galnce.

My impression is that the more my proposals are similar to what already exists, the more you like them. This is perfectly understandable.

However, since I'm pretty stubborn, I'm stressing you with another Lange 1 Alarm, perhaps the craziest of them all!! The alarm is set to 13:33.

Although i am coming late to this interesting thread, i'd like to support this idea.

Thanks for your proposals. I think we all agree on two points:

1- it is about time for Lange to offer us an alarm watch

2- there is no better base than the Lange 1 for dial complications.

All the existing alarm system have their flaws, none is perfect IMO. Let's hope that Lange will come with the best solution.
