No platinum version here so they can choose the colors  which are the best with the WG version. I really think they created something very harmonious with these Saxonia.

The change of price is mainly due to the palladium increase of price: the WG costs more to be produced than the other golds.

It is, despite its very classic look, an original watch within the Lange collection.

and the manual winding Saxonia is great but the Thin is wonderful. If it only would be available in WG. Why everybody is offering us so much the red metal?

Thank you for this phantastic overview! It made me realise what is in the meantime also visible on the Lange homepage - the "Saxonia Automatic Date" has disappeared. Am I the only one missing it? I got mine just recently, and I really love it...
The "Jahreskalender" is now the only model from the Saxonia family that has a date indication. If you want to have a "simple" three hands watch with date, you have to chose a completely different design (Lange 1 or Cabaret). The new Saxonia line is looking good and I don't see a reason why it shouldn't be succesful. But people looking for a classical watch with date indication have to choose a different brand now. Any idea about the reason for that decision?

To call it your favorite?

What I can read in this watch is this:

- most likely the management consultation with Vacheron showed that the Patrimony Contemporain is a mega seller and Lange is jumping also on
 
  that train.

- secondly: a new movement like this one showes cristal clear: watches, thin in particular, are not ment to be 40 mm.

Lange would not have such a big discrepancy in case / movement ratio unless it is avoidable.

And here is the problem: large, thin movements literally don't work: they become far too instable.

To put a solid case back would also mean a breach in tradition and a shame as the Patrimony is doing, to hide a pretty movement.

I have to see it in metal first, but I fear it will be a vast watch liek the VC one and more like a plate, a badge or a huge sticker on the wrist.


The autos and even more the manual Saxonias, they are really classic and nice.

I'm really interested on the Richard Lange Tourbillon Pour le Mérite movie. Can you tell if ALS is going to make something like GO's DVD we can order for free through their website?

The movie is not present on the CD which was given at the SIHH. But you can find the movie in the part of the website dedicated to the novelties. I managed to download the flv version of it. Hope it helps !

I'm a little nervous about the Saxonia Thin, available only in rose gold. JLC tends to offer only SS and rose gold, with rare PT and WG models. Hopefully Lange is just adopting a Patek model and future metals will debut in future.

we can expect future versions of this Saxonia Ultra Thin with other case metals.

BTW, Jérôme Lambert perfectly knows that the same strategy doesn't work for both Lange and JLC. They are two different brands.

... wonderful photos.  Aside from the sizes of the most - 40mm or larger - which I do not like, I can't wait to see in the flesh.  I would love to report back when I see them in Tokyo boutique sometime in March....
