Hi again, I'm thinking of the RG Datograph but may be able to get my hands on a 3 year old (with papers - open ended? Not sure what this means) mint condition PT Datograph.

The seller says he is ok for me to send it in to the AD and back to Germany if need be for full servicing. if ok, I'll pay for servicing and the watch and if not, he'll pay for servicing and the sale does not go through.

The price of the used PT is just slightly less than the price of a new RG.

So, the questions:

1. Which would you get and why?

2. If you do suggest the used PT, what should I look out for?

since it's the same watch but in different metals I would go for the brand new RG for peace of mind.Unless of course you much prefer a piece in platinum and is willing to take a risk.Ultimately, it's a decision you have to make and live with.My 2 cents.

And I think since is a wad of change either way, I'm opting for peace of mind with a new piece from an AD.

If the seller is reputable, and hives you a warranty  for the mint Dato platinum, I'd go on the mint plat.Dato...

If not, I know that I will have to add some more bucks for a complete service...Which is fast ( 4 weeks !)...

Small shop and he changed his mind to allow sending in only to AD and not back to Germany and even then I must pay in full first and if anything, go for a refund.  I am totally not comfortabel with that and wil go for a new RG at the minimum.

.... the seller was not willing to do this even when I offered to pay for the servicing first.  Red flags popped up and so I've opted to buy new when I ready to pull the trigger.
