I have a cloudy crystal so clearly there is some condensation that seeped into my watch. Is this a big (expensive) deal to fix? The back of the watch looks fine. Is this usually sealed from the front or does the whole watch need to be cleaned and repaired?
G'day,
in general, Lange watches are water resistant up to 30m, which indicates a specific pressure.
But they are not sports watches and don´t do well when swimming or showering, because water pressure can surpass what the seals are capable to prevent from entering the case.
The same goes for moisture, particularly in very humid areas or when the watch is exposed to sudded temperature shocks.
Therefore it is important to ensure all seals and gaskets are doing well, as these can be damaged by oil or soap; best to do is to have these checked on an annual base.
If there´s visible moisture inside the watch, best to do is to visit your Lange AD or your regional Lange Service Center as soon as possible .
Moisture will cause oxidation and once it´s inside the case, it´s likely to be everywhere. Any reasonable and serious estimate of repair work needed requires to have it opened, thus it´s not possible to give general advice. It really needs to be inspected and very quickly so, to prevent from greater damages resulting in very costly repair work (as far as it´s not too late).
I´m sorry to hear and press thumbs it can be fixed!
Greetings from Germany,
Peter
