Just picked up this beauty and also just joined this forum. Have been active at the other popular watch forums for years and always admired the community and discussion here!
I cant begin to describe how perfect this piece is. From the size, to the movement, to the gold and black combination. I paid (overpaid?) about the same as I would for a newer generation 1815 chrono on secondary market but I wanted the OG! Does that make me crazy?

Not crazy at all. Rather, I say you made the right decision.
I find the 1st generation 1815 Chronograph to be the definitive version. The color combination is just sublime, and not repeated in subsequent iterations. Congratulations and welcome!
I’m with you on this.
I would lean towards the earlier / first generation too.
It’s a lot of watch for the money. These days $50k is the new $20k (maybe even the new $15k) and so by comparison I think this watch offers great “value”. “Value” may not be the best choice of words but you know what I mean.

I think the consensus here will be this watch purchase is absolutely justified.
Assuming you can still pay your mortgage / rent ! Food, well, you don’t need that much. 😂

Congratulations for the 1815, first Gen has a charm and dial with depth - I personally think the later versions miss.

Welcome and thanks for joining us! Definitely not a mistaken purchase.
Lange dramatically changed the look of the 1815 Chrono over time, and people have different preferences. Lange went from a busier (Gen1) dial, to a less busy dial, and then back to a busier version. That says something.
A great watch will always be a great watch...
regardless of it's age... and yours is sublime..well done !
