For me this watch has a similar character to the JLC Master Ultra Thin 34mm. Though of course the Lange is far more complicated, both watches' unassuming looks prevent the layman from knowing that incredible movements lie within.

This is one of those ultimate stealth collectors watch…
But in this family, I actually like the unsung, less popular Referenzuhr.
There were lots of debate on the Referenzuhr here in 2010 when it was released but at that time, most people aren’t used to off-centered sub-dials….fast forward today, look at FPJ and many watches where the seconds sundial is placed all over the place.
I also think the Referenzuhr was overshadowed by the 165th Anniversary pieces but the movement architecture is special and beautiful than PLM, aesthetically.

I read all the posts and comments I can find about this watch and I have to say this site has the most info.
I think this is an amazing piece Raymond BUT if I am honest, I think the caseback is much more compelling than the dial side whereas the RL PLM in any variant has a balance of beauty for both the dial and movement, YMMV 🤷♂️🙈🙉🙊

No problem at all because that’s the beauty of this hobby. This watch fits my style to be simple on the front but sophisticated at the back.

I agree with you and that is why this passion is great as we all have our own preferences. I do like FPJ pieces BUT not all of them 😉...
I would have been OK with one subdial but having 2 of very different sizes somehow attracts my eye and seems strange to me but again that comes down to personal preference.
For example, I have a FPJ CB which also has an offset subdial but ONLY one. I also really like the Optimum model which will likely be my next FPJ but again there is only one offset subdial.
Regardless of what we have a preference for, we cannot go wrong with any Lange as they ALL are exquisite in their own way 😉👍
