Description

Hello,

Universal Geneve has a very long and rich history in the Swiss watchmaking industry. This esteemed watchmaking company was founded on January 18, 1894 in Le Locle, Neuchâtel, Switzerland.

Universal Geneve argueably has some of the deepest roots in Swiss chronograph production. They are known to have produced the first-ever chronograph wristwatch in 1917.

This particular chronograph is being offered for sale is the very rare Universal Geneve 875.475 Compax Panda aka: “Nina Rindt Jr.” which was originally released in 1994,….100 years from the date the company was originally founded (1894).

Although a stunning, classic 3 registered beautifully proportioned chronograph wristwatch. Notwithstanding, at the time of it’s introduction, it was produced in low numbers and a poor seller. Collectors now speculate the market, 28 years ago, wanted less of a vintage inspired chronograph, but rather a automatic movement vs the old school Lemania hand-wind, ….and a more modern design.

However, as collectors know, what was originally an ignored low production Swiss chronograph watch, sometimes becomes a very rare and very sought after piece.

This is the case with the Universal Geneve Compax Panda aka: “Nina Rindt Jr. ” with the famous Lemania movement (same movement as found in the older Omega speedmaster).

The watch’s overall appearance is definitely vintage inspired, with a classic, elegant look, housed in a beautiful 37mm “unpolished” case, with elongated lugs (factory polished tops, brushed sides) and with it’s classic original panda dial (black chrono registers, sunburst silvered dial and sword hands).

This beautiful example received a full service, approx 2 years ago (clean and full lubrication), invoice will be included.

In addition to it’s outstanding “unpolished” condition, mint dial, this UG Compax comes with a complete  “full set”,  extremely rare:

-Original Universal Geneve outer box,

-Original Geneve original box,

-Original dealer stamped Universal Geneve papers,

-Original Universal Geneve black crocodile strap,

-Original Universal Geneve s/steel buckle…

-l will also include an extra used Blancpain alligator strap, fits the chronograph, (free).

I’ve only ever seen 2 Universal Geneve Compax, “with a full set”,  offered for sale.

One, with box papers not as nice as mine,
is presently being offered on a major watch site; asking $8500USD + shipping.

The 2nd Universal Geneve Compax BP was offered for sale, approx. 6-9 months ago, asking $8000USD + shipping,…”has sold” (l kept a screen shot of the original listing).

This very rare, superb conditioned piece with full set: box/papers is often compared to the vintage Rolex Daytona chronograph 6263, looks very similar, right down to the acrylic tachymeter bezel (6263’s are now in the $100,000USD range,…approx. 10 yrs ago, they were $25,000USD).

A picture, from the internet, of a Universal Geneve Compax Panda with a oyster style bracelet is shown for **demonstration purposes only**.

This vintage Universal Geneve Chronograph aka: “Nina Rindt Jr.” continues to increase in value,…very good investment “potential”.

But, more importantly, it’s a timeless, and beautifully crafted vintage chronograph wrist watch.

I’m a long time member of the watch community (written numerous articles). I’m also an IWJG ((International Watch and Jewellery Guild) in good standing.

Return policy: 3 day return policy if this is not a genuine Universal Geneve chronograph wrist watch. Buyer can then return watch, in the exact same condition as pictured, once received l would refund the buyer in full.

Thank you,
Arthur.

“tri-compax”= 3 subdials ? No
The term 'tri-compax' originally referred to watches with three complications, not subdials. It's not accurate to use it solely based on the number of subdials. 'Tri-compax' can also apply to watches with four subdials in specific arrangements.
