📖 About This Reference
The Rolex Cellini reference 18038 represents a distinct offering within the Cellini collection, known for its focus on dress watches that diverge from the brand's more prevalent Oyster Perpetual sports models. This particular reference, while sharing a numerical sequence with Day-Date models of the era, is a Cellini, characterized by its more traditional and refined aesthetic. It is a less commonly encountered reference compared to its Oyster counterparts, appealing to collectors seeking a different expression of Rolex craftsmanship.
This Cellini reference features a 36 mm case crafted from 18k yellow gold, housing the automatic Caliber 3055 movement. The movement provides a power reserve of 48 hours. The watch is fitted with a sapphire crystal and offers a water resistance of 100 meters. The bezel is fluted, complementing the precious metal case.
This reference appeals to collectors interested in Rolex's non-Oyster offerings and the brand's exploration of more formal designs. Its production period from approximately 1978 to 1988 places it within an era when Rolex was producing a diverse range of timepieces. The presence of a Lapis Lazuli blue dial further enhances its appeal, offering a distinctive and sought-after variant.
