Description

Here for sale is a Rolex Oysterquartz Datejust purchased in 1986. It is model 17000 and is arguably the best quartz watch ever made! The Rolex quality is evident as soon as you pick it up and put it on the wrist. The watch has a very unique attribute, being that the *tick* is audible, which is something unique to Rolex Oysterquartz watches. The watch keeps excellent time, and had its battery changed about 10 months ago (should be good for another 2-3 years). I had 2 links removed and sadly cannot find them but it should fit a mans wrist well (I am 5'7", 160lbs). I do not have the box or papers either but guarantee the watch as 100% authentic! I will ship anywhere in the world (am currently located in Singapore).

📖 About This Reference

The Rolex Cellini reference 17000 represents a distinct period in the brand's history, characterized by its integration of quartz technology within the Cellini collection. Unlike the more common Oyster Perpetual models, the Cellini line traditionally emphasized dress watch aesthetics and often explored diverse case designs and materials. The 17000, however, stands out for its use of the in-house Rolex quartz movement, offering a different proposition to collectors accustomed to mechanical movements from the brand. This reference reflects Rolex's engagement with quartz technology during the late 20th century. This particular Cellini reference features a 36 mm stainless steel case, a departure from the precious metals often associated with the Cellini range. It is fitted with a smooth bezel and a sapphire crystal, providing durability and scratch resistance. The watch is powered by the Rolex caliber 5035, an in-house quartz movement known for its precision. While water resistance is rated at 100 meters, consistent with many Rolex models, its overall design aligns with a dress watch aesthetic rather than a sports watch. For collectors, the Cellini 17000 appeals to those interested in Rolex's foray into quartz watchmaking and its broader design experimentation beyond its core sports and professional lines. Its stainless steel construction and quartz movement offer a unique combination within the Cellini family, which typically features more ornate designs and precious metals. The reference provides insight into Rolex's strategic responses to evolving watchmaking trends and its commitment to producing high-quality timepieces across different technological platforms.
