Description

I offer for sale my Paul Gerber Retrograd #5x in an 18k yellow gold case with signed 18k buckle, which I bought new from Mr. Gerber years ago. It is one of the last Retrograd watches that he made and is in excellent condition with no dings and only some light swirling around the bezel. This is an elegant thin profile watch from one of the early independent watchmakers.

Features:

- Dial blank made by Mr. Gerber and sent out for finishing and printing.
- Dial 18k gold numbers and hands made and finished by Mr. Gerber.
- Peseux Cal. 7001 movement modified by Mr. Gerber for his retro-seconds indicator mechanism which is made by him in his workshop. Its asymmetric cam requires extensive hand adjustment and finishing to accurately display the seconds throughout the seconds sub-dial arc.
- I have original box and papers.

Here is info from Mr. Gerber’s website:

Case yellow gold 18ct
Handwinding movement
Fly back retrograd seconds
Dial white with applied blue “Breguet” numbers (**18k gold on my watch**)
Fine leave shaped hands in blue (**18k gold on my watch**)
The movement is finished with a very fine “Côtes de Genève” and a pearl engine turned décor
Blued screws
21 jewels
Power reserve 40 hours
Case diameter 35.6mm
Case thickness 8.5mm
Sapphire crystals (**in addition to the installed display back I have an 18k gold solid back plate; the watch is a little thinner with it**)
Waterproof 3 ATM
Individually numbered by hand engraving
Alligatorstrap with buckle 18ct. with logo PG

Offered at US$18,500. I prefer payment by bank wire transfer. Shipping arrangement to be agreed, paid by buyer.

📖 About This Reference

The Paul Gerber Retrograd #5x represents the brand s approach to retrograde complications during the 2000s decade. This reference features a white dial configuration within the 35.6mm case format, distinguishing it through its specific retrograde display mechanism powered by a modified Peseux 7001 caliber. The 18k yellow gold case measures 35.6mm in diameter with a fixed bezel and sapphire crystal. Water resistance extends to 30 meters. The manual-winding movement utilizes a modified Peseux 7001 caliber delivering 40 hours of power reserve. The watch is completed with an alligator strap. This reference appeals to collectors focused on independent watchmaking and retrograde complications from the 2000-2010 production period. The combination of precious metal case construction, modified base caliber, and specialized dial display positions this piece within the technical complications segment of Paul Gerber s portfolio. The 35.6mm sizing aligns with period preferences for more compact case dimensions.

Paul Gerber Watches
We haven’t seen our heard much from Paul lately — I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s partially retired (I am, and he’s a bit older than me). Some here may remember he was the watchmaker who over a period of years helped create “the world’s most complicated wristwatch” was instrumental in the creation

And, after quite some time, a new watch.
Greetings. I embarked upon a mini vacation/roadtrip to Charleston, SC a few weeks ago. It started to rain while I was walking around the city post- Ft. Sumter tour and… “hey, that’s a watch place.” “Look they even have that bright/Kelly green “ROLEX” sign above the doorway. Eh, what the heck?” Despi

Who has one or more of the old WPS / Purists Special watches? May I ask for a show of wrists?
This site never got the bug to become a Hodinkee, but over the last 10-15 years some special editions were released for WPS visitors. I have only 3 but there were at least 8-10 in total. Here are mine. Moving from right to left, I'll describe them 2011 P10 Paul Gerber Triple Rotor If you look very c
