📖 About This Reference

The Calatrava reference 2549, and its variant 2549/1, represents a distinctive design period for Patek Philippe, particularly within the 1950s and 1960s. This reference is noted for its unusual case architecture, distinguishing it from more conventional Calatrava designs of the era. It falls within a series of references, including the 2501 to 2550, that explored diverse aesthetic expressions, appealing to collectors interested in mid-century design variations. This reference typically features a case crafted from precious metals, housing a manual-winding movement. While specific dimensions can vary slightly between individual examples or variants like the 2549/1, the design emphasizes a refined profile characteristic of dress watches from its period. The crystal is commonly acrylic, consistent with watches of this vintage, protecting a dial that often features minimalist hour markers and hands. For collectors, the 2549 is significant for its design language, which shares a stylistic kinship with other notable references such as the "Devil's Horns" 2549 and the 2550. Its appeal lies in its departure from standard Calatrava forms, offering a more sculptural and less common profile. The reference attracts those who appreciate the breadth of Patek Philippe's design experimentation during a fertile period for watchmaking aesthetics.

comment Hi dayman,
Regarding Collectors Market WTB Patek Philippe Nautilus 5980

Good evening, this is going to sound a little strange but it is my best shot.

I am Rod Ritchie, I live in Scotland, UK and have built up a great reputation, over more than 10 years, selling BNIB Rolex watches. I use the trading name of Rolexroz.

I sold my first watches to Goh Jing Hwee and Beng H Chua both in Singapore (sorry I cannot remember how to spell their names.) amongst others and they gave me some great feedback.

Since then I have become a selling legend on the likes of www.newturfers.com , TZ-UK where I am hated as I sell new watches and admit to being a dealer.

In over 10 years I have sold watches to the UK, US, EU, Japan (Shoji Noda and Tagashi), Singapore (as above), Hong Kong and I am probablythe number one Grey Market seller in the former USSR.

However, I may have been missing something. I always liked Rolex watches and as such I always sold Rolex watches. Last Saturday I was in one of mylocal Rolex dealers and they showed me some Patek watches and explained that they were rare and a bargain in the UK.

One was the 5980/1 which you are looking for, I would be happy to sell it to you for only £22500(GBP, POUNDS STERLING)

I trust that you can check that what I have said is true and that we can maybe complete a deal on this or some other watch.

P.S. If you should go to www.newturfers.com and look under the "good guys" section, then look at the archived good guys section I am sure that you will realise that I am to be trusted.
