Description

Patek Philippe Gondolo Ref 5109R. A large 30mm wide by 43mm long 18K rose gold rectangular wristwatch with raised black Breguet numerals and the sub-second at 6:00. This watch was worn very little if at all as evidenced by the original strap and the condition of the case which are in mint condition. Watch is accompanied by the PP wallet with the original certificate and manuals along with the PP box. It’s worth noting that the 5109 was first introduced at the Basel fair in 2003 and was no longer on PP price sheet in 2008. This is a very short manufacturing life and with the large over sized case makes this a very desireable watch. Case is rose gold in absolutely mint condition with a solid back secured by four screws. Its case design was inspired by the elegant Art Deco wristwatches. Dial is rose with black applied Breguet numerals blackened gold spade hands with the sub-seconds located at 6:00. Reference 5109, the large Gondolo model, was introduced at the Basel Fair in 2003. Its case design was inspired by the elegant Art Deco wristwatches.

📖 About This Reference

The Patek Philippe Gondolo reference 5109 represents a distinct rectangular case offering within the Gondolo collection, which is known for its non-round case shapes inspired by Art Deco aesthetics. This reference, along with others like the 5489 and 5124, showcases Patek Philippe's commitment to traditional watchmaking with a focus on form watches that deviate from the more common circular designs. It is a notable example of the brand's diverse catalog, appealing to collectors who appreciate classic proportions and a refined, understated presence on the wrist. This reference is powered by the manual-winding Caliber 215, a movement known for its reliability and slender profile, which is well-suited for the rectangular case architecture. The 5109 was produced in various precious metals, including yellow gold (5109J-001), rose gold (5109R-001), white gold (5109G-001), and platinum (5109P-001). The crystal is typically sapphire, providing durability and clarity for viewing the dial. The 5109 holds relevance for collectors interested in Patek Philippe's historical and contemporary interpretations of rectangular watches. Its availability in multiple metal variants allows for different aesthetic preferences, from the warmth of rose gold to the subtle elegance of platinum. The shared Caliber 215 across several Gondolo references, such as the 5489, highlights a consistent approach to movement selection for this family of watches, reinforcing its position as a considered choice for enthusiasts of shaped cases.

I did it with the 5109 😀
The 5109 is completely new PP territory for me as I really didn’t like any of the models from the Gondolo collection that I had seen so far. Way to many Art Deco details, steps, levels and edges on the cases for me. At a visit to Paris earlier this year I had bought a Cartier Tank Must which had ope

Patek Philippe Gondolo 5109J-010
I stumbled across this Gondolo model and find it very interesting. Unfortunately, I couldn't find much information about the model and would be happy to learn some details that I should pay attention to when buying, especially about the original shape of the case. How can I tell if the case of this

A perfect trio in steel
Finally got there with my perfect 3 to work wherever I need to go. Just waiting for a black alligator strap with contrast stitching so 5212 can work in the office. During my quest to get this small set my AD came up trumps with the rare “misty blue” for my wife. Our favourite ladies aquanaut. Having

New watch on the wrist!
Just last week I got this 5109r on the wrist. A somewhat overlooked reference it seems... It has taken me some years to get used to the idea of wearing red or yellow gold watches. It is also my first square watch, but 2020 calls for different measures! The watch measures 30*43mm and is only 6mm thic

Patek Phillipe Gondolo Ref 5109G.
Some pictures of a watch we don't often see, here and there, the Gondolo Ref 5109. Here in white gold. So, what are the main points? The case, first, rectangular. with this angular bezel. Then, the superb grained dial. We also have to mention the sublime hands and the applied hour markers. As often,
