Description

FS: Lemania Vintage Military Aviator Chronograph Calibre 27 CH (Omega 321) same as Omega 2451- US Navy WWII 1942-1949 Fully Serviced $3200

This is a beautiful and rare vintage chronograph owned by a United States Navy serviceman who served in World War II. This military vintage chronograph was Fully Serviced by ClockSavant. As shown in the photos we provided, the back of the watch shows a US Navy inscription, highlighting the original owner's service between 1942 and 1949. This Lemania model is essentially identical to the Omega reference 2451 and features a screw-back case with integrated pushers. The case is more substantial and thicker than most other chronograph cases of the era and therefore has a good deal of "presence" on the wrist. During this era, Lemania manufactured watches under their own brand and for Omega. The beautifully aged dial with blue tachymeter ring and hour and minute hands will draw you into the watch and its rich history.  This watch features the earliest version of the Lemania 27 ch chronograph movement which is identical to the Omega calibre 321.

In the era we live-in today, we don't think of a mechanical chronograph as something that we might depend-upon for our own survival, but in the 1940's and in wartime, these watches may have meant the difference between life or death for a soldier or pilot and the men and women he worked alongside.

Brand: Lemania

Type: Manual Wind

Calibre: Lemania 27 CH CHRO  - Same as Omega 321

Case Material: Stainless Steel

Size: 35mm, watch wears larger. Substantial 12mm thick screw back case

Strap: New Dassari distressed blue leather watch strap, regular length

Age: We estimate the watch was manufactured in the mid 1940's.

Service History: Fully Serviced by ClockSavant Fully disassembled, old and worn parts replaced or repaired, adjusted, optimized, cleaned, and lubricated. Comprehensive testing and performance measurement.

Condition: Overall excellent example of a 1940's vintage military chronograph. Case has the typical scratches and dings that are common to watches of this age but is in overall excellent condition given the age and history of the watch. The original dial shows some wear and discoloration as shown in the photographs. There is some small amount of paint loss on the outer edge of the dial, as shown in the pictures. Pushers function well and cleanly. The bottom reset pusher was replaced sometime in the past and matches the watch; the button is solidly installed, operates correctly, but rides very slightly higher and looser. This is not particularly noticeable on the wrist in our opinion and does not impact feel or correct operation. We mention it for completeness.

ClockSavant Watchmaker Testing, Certification, and Performance Measurement: All the watches we sell go through a comprehensive series of ClockSavant-developed functional, stability, and performance tests and are only approved for sale if they meet or exceed the criteria we have established. Detailed performance results are available upon request.

Return Period: 14-day return period provided that watch is returned in condition received.
