Rare Jaquet Droz Chinese Grande Seconde Enamel Decentree Timepiece

Almost new, having been worn just twice, as evidenced by slight creasing on the inner surface of the leather strap. It stays in its original wood box inside the original cardboard box inside a card stock sleeve inside the original bubble wrap (see pictures below). The manual is wrapped in plastic (still sealed) inside the wood box. 
 
This is a very unusual watch with an odd history. The name is the Chinese Grande Seconde Enamel Decentree. Of course, it has an enamel face, of which only 1 of 100 is satisfactory for use. This piece has Chinese numerals from 9 to 5 and Arabic numerals for 6, 7 and 8. The crown is at 4 o'clock. 
 
The most interesting feature is that this company only makes watches in series based on the number 8. That could be a series of 8 or a series of 88 or an unlimited production. In the case of this watch, they intended to make a series of 88. However, someone mistakenly ordered 100 cases. What to do with the other 12 cases, as this does not fit their scheme. They chose to make two series of 8 each, but with only 6 watches in the series. In other words, this piece is labeled "1 of 8", but there is no 7 or 8, just six. The other series of 8 (6), has Chinese numerals for 6, 7, and 8 and Arabic numerals for the rest. The net result is that the fortunate owners of these beautiful watches have a prize that is even rarer than they first thought.
