Description

The IWC Portugieser Perpetual Calendar 5022 was introduced in 2006, pairing IWC's self-winding 7-day movement with Kurt Klaus' ingenious perpetual calendar module. The latter was first seen in the 1985 Da Vinci and adapted to fit the larger dimensions of the 7-day movement. It featured a case of 44.3mm with sapphire glasses both front and back. One of its signature elements was the 'Single Moon' moonphase display, allowing its owner to read the moonphase in its hemisphere.

This reference, the 5022-13, features a rose gold case with silver dial. It was introduced in 2006. Between 2006 and 2007 the IW5022-13 was powered by a 51610 calibre. This changed between 2007 and 2012 in which it was powered by the 51613 calibre.

IWC Portuguese 7 Days Ref 5000.
How sensuous with its plexy, its leaf hands, the round dots and the heated blue power reserve and second hands. And at that time, in the early 2000's, a 7 Days Power Reserve was not that common! Best, Nicolas

One of my favorite PCs; absolutely gorgeous. I cannot afford it, but admire it greatly, I do. One question, if you do not think it a burden... I notice that the days are separated with a dot halfway between. And I assume that the day wheel turns continuously. But is it timed so that one might use the day wheel as an A.M./P.M. indicator? I'd never thought of this "additional complication" until I looked closely at your photographs today. A truly magnificent timepiece! Best of luck in selling it quickly!    FH

actually the day display does have a deviation starting around 1130 or so by 1210 the date will change so you will see if you stay up the day display pointing at one of the dots somewhere in between. and as per your question to use the day function no there would be no way to utilize that as an AM/PM indicator. With most perpetual watches there are many with no am/pm indicator there although some that do have unfortunately this one does not.

Many thanks for your reply. Let me be clear: this would not be a deal-breaker! Could I afford such a watch, this one would be very high on my list. A great piece. Again, thanks fot taking time to answer. And good luck with your sale! FH [nt] No message body
