Greetings folks,
It is undeniable that Montres Journe is one of the few true independent watchmakers gifted with both a brilliant technical mind as well as keen aesthetic acumen.
For sale is a rare Octa Chrono in 38mm on matching rose gold bracelet, with the gorgeous 18 carat gold movement. This rose gold case with 18k gold movement was produced in a very short and small run, perhaps just for a year or two (I believe in 2005-2006), and is much rarer than its white metal brothers with brass or ruthenium organs. It is also one of the first few Octas with solid gold dials, with a cloudy texture (visible with loupe) similar to the new gold dials just released by Montres Journe in 2014.
Overall 95% condition, no dents or dings, just hairlines from wear, mostly on the bracelet. Watch head has much less scratches than the bracelet. Full set complete with all boxes and papers.
Case measures 38mm by 9mm slim, and the second upgraded 1300-2 caliber offers a generous 120 hour power reserve (it actually runs in excess of 150 hours) with big date (date discs function perfectly) and 60 minute flyback chronograph with knurled pushers and crown. Blued steel hands.
In excellent working order, keeping time well within COSC standards, and wears very comfortably owing to the 2 half links for easy sizing.
Asking USD 41,500 on the bracelet. Available on leather strap and F.P. Journe tang buckle as well. At an Antiquorum auction in February 2014, an Octa Chrono in RG 38mm on leather strap sold for HKD262,500, but this is the brass version with the first 1300 caliber, and earlier dial.
