Up for your consideration is a limited set of two Daniel Roth watches.
There were three of these limited edition sets. created exclusively for a premiere jewelry boutique in Aspen, Colorado. I do not know if the other two sets were ever created or sold and the boutique has since closed its doors. This set, the first of the series, was originally sold in 2000.
These watches are "opposite" pairs. I purchased this set in 2018 with the intention of gifting one to each of my twins ( a boy and a girl ). Both will be headed off to college soon and sadly neither have an interest in horology so I am selling to add to their tuition fund.
The specific reference number is N207.BC/5n-S/PL, but in general these are more commonly known as the Small Seconds model.
Instantly recognizable by the double ellipse shape, both watches have the larger case dimensions of 35 mm by 38 mm and they are approximately 10 mm in thickness.
Even more unique is the two tone 18K gold construction of the watch case. I have seen two toned models before. These were early DR models which typically showcased a gold bezel on top of a stainless steel case but I have never seen this type of "sandwiched" case design involving precious metals from DR in any literature previously. The opposite/mirrored concept is also carried through the dial design and remaining watch components. Both watches are in very good condition (per PuristsPro grading standards). The usual swirlies, no dings, no scratches, the case and lug edges are sharp.
Watch 1:
18K rose gold bezel and case back with a sandwiched 18k white gold mid case layer and lugs. Rose gold crown.

The case back indicates Numero 1
Both watches are powered by the more desirable JLC Caliber 819. Most Small second models used a corresponding movement from GP. The JLC is automatic winding, a rotor with 22k segment to increase mass and winding efficiency. 36 jewels, 28,800 A/h, adjusted to 5 positions with a power reserve of 40 hours. These watches are chronometers.
The dial has the signature DR pinstripe guilloche pattern in Salmon, but the engine turned engraved chapter hour ring and the small seconds subdial ring are in contrasting silver. Heat blued steel hour, minute, and second hard.

The original brown alligator wide scale strap accompanies the watch with mild staining but plenty of service life left.

On the wrist. Super flat, looks and feels amazing

Watch # 2 is the "opposite"
18 K white gold bezel and case back with a sandwiched rose gold mid case layer and lugs. White gold crown.

The case back also shows Numero 1, confirming a matched set.
For watch 2 the dial colors are "flipped" The pinstripe guilloche is now in silver while the hour chapter and sub second rings are salmon.

The corresponding black alligator strap is in similar condition as the other. Slight staining with plenty of life left.

The original white gold DR buckle accompanies the strap.
On the wrist, again amazing... Daniel Roth was really ahead of his time. Hard to believe that these watches are 23 years old. The design is timeless. Kudos to Louis Vuitton for giving the man and his creations another shot at the recognition they deserve.
The obligatory Hayek double wrist shot
I do not know the service history of there watches. Since my purchase, they have sat in the safe with the usual monthly hand wind to check on function. On the wrist both watches keep great time and hold power for the full 40 hours. Since these watches are not on my usual wrist rotation, I would recommend that the new owner service them before regular use.
For full transparency, so there are no surprises for the new potential owner, I am including the following pictures of both watches on the timing machine taken today.

I am asking $35,000 USD + shipping for the limited edition set. but open the reasonable offers. Low ball offers will be kindly ignored. Wire funds preferred. Watches will not ship until funds are confirmed. Face to face transaction possible if you live in the Boston, MA area.
Sorry, I am not willing to break the set up but I hope you understand why I think it is important to keep the two watches together.
t a dealer. Plenty of references available.
