Chopard Happy Sport Diamonds

This wonderfully unique watch was purchased new by my stepfather, undoubtedly as a symbol of his success. Fred was a self-made multi-millionaire, born and raised in Iowa. He began his journey investing in a restaurant and eventually owned over 300 restaurants, a trucking line and his own LearJet. I inherited the watch and decided to let it go. This Chopard Happy Sport is satisfyingly heavy and made of 18K gold, both watch and band. The face has thirty flawless diamonds, “floating” on a black background, which I believe may be Onyx. It is in beautiful condition. Although I’m sure it could use a professional cleaning and calibration, it seems to keep time just fine. The one flaw that I have found is that the knob has a tiny piece of what I believe to be Onyx, which is cracked. It is so tiny though that you more or less need a magnifying glass to see the flaw. Also the back is lightly scratched. Numbers stamped into the back read: 136338 2106. I am not sure of the original purchase price of the watch, but one dealer said he thought it in the neighborhood of $40,000.
