📖 About This Reference

The Reference 785 represents Breitling's Calendar Chronograph within the Datora 885 series, produced during the mid-1940s wartime period. This reference combines chronograph functionality with calendar complications in a compact case format typical of the era's dress-oriented timing pieces. The watch features a 35mm steel case measuring 12.7mm in thickness with 18mm lugs, housing the manual-winding Valjoux 72C caliber. The silver dial is protected by an acrylic crystal and framed by a smooth steel bezel. The case proportions reflect the period's preference for smaller, refined dimensions suitable for formal wear applications. Production spanned 1944 to 1945, making this reference appealing to collectors focused on wartime Breitling output and vintage calendar chronographs. The combination of the reliable Valjoux 72C movement with calendar functionality positions this piece within the complicated watch segment of mid-century Swiss production, attracting enthusiasts of both Breitling's technical heritage and classical chronograph design.
