Professor Thomas Engel is internationally known for his work on polymerization and his talented research into the production of polymers.  Engel holds about 120 patents in the field of organic chemistry and has received many prizes and honors for his work.  In 1972, he was awarded the "Diesel Prize", which he shared with Dr. Wernher von Braun, the rocket and space technologist.  When not inventing, Engel pursued his great love of horology and published this work, subtitled "Thoughts on Time", a biography on the life and works of Abraham Louis Breguet, which has an introduction by Lord Yehudi Menuhin.  Thomas Engel was a self taught watchmaker, inventor, and collector of Breguets.  In 2001, it was documented that he owned around 150 world class watches, many being Breguet pocket watches.  This is a rare red leather bound book with a gold gilded top edge.  It has a bookmarker with a beautifully embossed leather end.  This book is new and was opened only to take pictures.
