Description

Selling a quite rare Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Jumbo - Model 15002. The 15002 was manufactured in the mid-1990s to commemorate the original Royal Oak 5402. While not much has been written about the 15002, my research indicates that AP made an edition of less than 200 of this model making this one of the rarest of the Royal Oak models. It of course utilizes the stellar 2121 calibre and has the very nice Clous de Paris dial in dark blue. Like the original model 5402, this has a closed back. One of the unique features of the 15002 is that the case has an opening where the stem enters the case which enables the movement to be removed from the case with the stem still attached. My understanding is that this is the only Royal Oak Jumbo model with this feature. I would describe the watch as in Very Good condition. It has one small hairline scratch on the bezel between 2 and 3 that could easily be buffed out by a professional. It has a couple of small scratches on the bracelet near the clasp. Other than those two issues, it is very, very clean especially for a watch that is more than 15 years old. It comes with original inner and outer box, as shown in pictures, and the original papers as purchased from an AD. I even stil have the original hang tag. It is in excellent operating condition and keeping accurate time. Here is an opportunity to acquire perhaps the rarest of all the Royal Oak Jumbo models which very rarely come on the market. My asking price is $14,000 shipped in the CONUS.

📖 About This Reference

The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak reference 15002 represents a 33mm automatic variant within the Royal Oak Selfwinding series. This reference was produced from 1985 to 2000, establishing its position as a smaller-sized option in the collection during this fifteen-year production period. The watch features a 33mm stainless steel case with a fixed octagonal bezel and sapphire crystal. Water resistance is rated to 50 meters. The automatic caliber 2125 movement provides a 40-hour power reserve. The blue dial is paired with a steel bracelet, creating a monochromatic stainless steel presentation. Reference 15002 appeals to collectors seeking a more compact Royal Oak with automatic winding in stainless steel. The 33mm case size distinguishes it from larger variants in the series, while the blue dial adds visual interest to the steel construction. The extended production run from 1985 to 2000 makes examples relatively accessible compared to shorter production references.

Unique in the Ulysse Nardin Modern Era: Cal UN 160.
A movement dedicated to only one watch, the 160. Replaced a few years after by the Cal 118. Only 1000 made, 500 in white gold, 500 in rose gold. Historical. Best, Nicolas
