Hello, I am new to this forum and I thought I would introduce myself...

my name is Pedro and I like watches. My favorite watch happens to be an Omega so I thought this might be a good place to post. Here are a few shots of my PloProf. It was originally owned by my wife's grandfather and he passed it on to me. As you can see, ...

Welcome Pedro!

Hello and Welcome Pedro! Awesome Omega ploprof you got there! Not only is it a great piece, it has sentimental value as well. Has it been in for a overhaul? Thanks for sharing the pics. -MW

Thank you. Yes, I had the movement serviced and the seals replaced...

I wanted to keep the patina and the sentiment in tact, so I had the dial, hands, bezel and case left alone. Cheers, Pedro

And thanks for having taken the time to introduce you! As for your Plo Prof, I have to say that yours is gorgeous. Not only because of its affective origins, but also for its patina, which is just superb! Your Plo Prof has SOUL, and a nice one! Best, Nico...

Great vintage PloProf, Pedro!

Thanks for sharing it with us, and welcome here! I love the patina on your watch, and it is extra special due to the family connection! Have you seen the new PloProf reissue from Omega? It's very attractive in its new version as well. Cheers, Daos

Thanks Daos. Yes indeed, I have seen the new one and I like it...

I think it's a nice evolution of the original with some new features to justify the price. If I could, I would. Cheers

Yes, but you have a beautiful original

You've got a wonderful original ploprof, that will be a terrific watch to wear for many, many years to come. Don't mind that you get a couple scratches on it, your wife's grandfather probably did a few, and you'll add your own history. Hope you've taken t...

Great photos...

Hi Pedro How do you like wearing it on a strap ? I have always worn mine either on the mesh band or the old speedy style bracelet.. But never a strap. Good hunting Bill Sohne

I find that custom straps tend to make the watch more wearable...

 By: cubanchem1 : June 9th, 2009-04:33
with the mesh, I have to use two extender pieces and it's still not quite right and the rubber strap is just too short for my wrist. So with custom straps I get the right length with the holes in the right place and the back of the watch does not dig in t...

welcome Pedro. i always wore mine on the 'street' bracelet

 By: G99 : June 9th, 2009-08:57
which is possibly where i went wrong. a watch that hefty needs to be held tight to the wrist to avoid it swinging around and a strap would have done that better perhaps. thats a great watch you have there Pedro, especially as it was used for its intended ...

Thanks Graham, not sure what a "street" bracelet is, but I agree...

you need a good strap/bracelet for a heavy watch like the PP.

when released the ploprof was...

 By: G99 : June 10th, 2009-02:11
when released the ploprof was available with the rubber strap and 2 bracelets. the mesh divers bracelet and the 'street' bracelet which is the same design as the one on the speedmaster mark 3 onwards. here's a pic. best Graham...

That's what I thought you meant, but have never heard of it called the street bracelet...

 By: cubanchem1 : June 10th, 2009-04:10
that's the one bracelet I do not have for it. If it is built like the bracelet on my Speedy, then I cannot imagine it holding the PP in place very well.

Welcome to the forum!
