I spot a small difference.
The hour markers on the first Speedmaster go all the way to the edge of the dial. On the later Speedy they stop and change to a very small mark that goes to the edge.

As zephyr49 said, the big difference is the hands: Dauphine-style on the 2998 vs white baton hand on the modern one. By the way, the three counters of this 2998-5 have already the baton hands. Only the 2915 and the early 2998 had small dauphine hands for ...
