I opened the back of the watch, and

I am sure this is a geniuene Omega. The ref. number was stamped on the inside of the back cover, along with the Omega symbol. The movement has a number on it, which I think started with "38", which would correspond with a 1973/1974 manufacture. The movement says 625, which also corresponds to this watch type. The movement is attached to the back of the dial, which comes out in one piece, leaving the case with the beveled crystal attached to the strap.

It is a mechanical movement, and I have never serviced it. It came with the gold bracelet, since my relative thought I was looking for a dress watch at the time. The bracelet is NOT 0mega though.
I do not know if this is a mans or womans, but have seen a similiar watch at a Danish watch site.

If you received this watch 30 years ago, then you know many things don't add up. Omega made a range of 'Emeraude' watches in the De Ville line during most of the 1970s but the MD 511.0378 did not look like yours. It was a ladies watch with a carbochon-set...
