But..

Thanks for responding.  I understand the gmt subdial is also an indicator for AM/PM.  My question is at what time should the subdial be crossing the left side (pm) to the right side (am).  I believe it should be at 12 o'clock (using the non-adjustable black hour hand).  There are two time zones to this watch and I think the home time zone should be in-sync with the GMT subdial.

Pam 270 not set correctly by factory?

 By: hon8500 : March 12th, 2010-15:27
I just got my pam270 back from repair. Waited 10 weeks for them to adjust the watch, it was losing 5 minutes/day. I'm a bit confused with setting the time. From pictures on the internet and from what I remember, when watch shows 12 o'clock using the gmt h...

If I am reading your post correctly,

...I think you may be confusing the AM/PM indicator in the subdial for a GMT hand. At 12:00, the AM/PM indicator should either register "AM", pointing to the right, or "PM", pointing to the left. Sounds to me like yours is working properly. Best, Californ...

I see what you are asking.

I can't recall, but I think the AM/PM indicator is aligned with whichever of the two hour hands trigger the date change, which I believe is the silver hour hand. Can someone else confirm? Best, CaliforniaJed

I believe the AM/PM indicator at the 9 o'clock subdial is for the main time

not the GMT time. The black GMT hand should not be connected with any other function on the watch. So if it's 12PM on the main time, the AM/PM indictor hand should be at 6 o'clock. Once it's 6PM on the main time, the AM/PM indictor hand should be right on...

Thanks for your help. The technician at Panerai did confirm my watch was not in sync. I have to wait another 4 weeks! No wonder I couldn't set the watch to look identical to any of the photos I see on the web!

You are correct that the AM/PM indicator on your 270 is not working right...

On my 270, when the GMT black hand is at 12, the AM/PM indicator hand (the little triangle) should point straight up or down, to indicate that we are transitioning from AM to PM or vice versa. In the example below (my watch): It is almost 5pm on the GMT h...
