Just to add to the discussion, this is what the Breguet/Fatton inking chronograph looks like, this example from 1837 (as seen in the Breguet Museum in Paris)
And another larger inking chronograph, this one originally sold to the Royal College in Lyon in 1845

ps I assume this is not at all intentional, but the modern MB piece is named Riussec, but has Breguet numbers...

Outstanding explanation. Thank you very much! Yes, when it comes to chronographs many brands seek some kind of precedent. It really is about which model would I choose today, not 190 years ago!
I am still confused where the ink comes out, do you think the Pano RetroGraph from GO..
was made with this in mind? The discs look like little drops of ink.
Ink comes from the little nib at the top...
53 1/2 minute mark. I don't know if the retrograph display is inspired by ink drops. Best, Mike
