Montblanc Nicolas Rieussec Rising Hour and a piece unique Montblanc Villeret!

Not seen the Nicolas Rieussec Rising Hour awhile. Yesterday whilst watch window shopping (note the key word is window lol) in London's New and Old Bond street area, I saw this again at the Montblanc boutique.

One of our Purist here has this same model in steel and grey dial.

To recap, the Rising Hour is a very interesting complication and when coupled with the iconic Nicolas Rieussec chronograph where the chronograph sub dials move instead of chrono hands, it is definitely a complication I have not seen in other brands.

The rising hour is more of a "hovering hour" mechanism and not jumping hours we see more commonly. In addition, the multi layer dial allows for the hour numerals to indicate whether the hour is in the day or at night using black or blue as the colors to indicate. So at 6 o'clock is when you will see the hour numeral half in black and blue indicating a switch from day to night and vice versa.

I really like this watch and considered it 2 years back but didn't pull the trigger due to the size and thickness (my wrist is a tad small to carry this off but then again I am getting the 1858 chronograph tachymeter so....) :p

Another watch I saw was a piece unique Montblanc Villeret Grande Chronograph grand feu enamel - yes this is the 47mm version with the caliber 16.29 (instead of my 41mm version with the caliber 13.21) and the case is crafted in platinum.

How do you spot a piece unique Villeret for these chronographs grand feu enamel series? Easy (except for bespoke dials I do not know of) - if you see a blue enamel or an enamel with 2 tone, such as this one with white enamel as the background and the middle part and chrono sub dials in off white / cream enamel, then you know it is definitely a piece unique Montblanc Villeret. and they are in platinum too!

The LE 8 or 58 pieces are in rose or white gold and having black or white enamel dials smile

A most beautiful 2 tone enamel dial!

Beside my black enamel dial Villeret smile
Sorry for the iphone shots which are not the best here

As the weekend ends, have a great Monday and start of a new week!

Cheers
Robin
