Montblanc Minerva Calibre 16.31

The absolutely stunning Montblanc Minvera Calibre 16.31 rattrapante (split seconds), monopusher, chronograph movement. If you are wondering what 16.31 means, the 16 refers to the movement size of 16 lignes (or ~38mm). This is huge for a wristwatch movement, though not surprising as the 16.31 is based on the 19-09CH, which was 19 lignes in size and developed in 1909 to fit inside pocket watches. The 19-09CH was eventually put into a 46 mm military monopusher chronograph wristwatch in the 1930s (which is probably what the 31 stands for?). The modern day 1858 split seconds chronograph is slightly smaller at 44mm, but still quite challenging for many wrists. Nevertheless, the plus side of such a big movement is the huge canvas to showcase all the horological goodness in their full glory, and I for one, cannot stop ogling at all those details and finishing 🥰😍 HAGWE everyone!!
