Basically for automatic watches
From rest (meaning the watch has zero power reserve), I only wind until the balance wheel start ticking/seconds hand start moving, plus a few more winds, then I let my wrist motion power the watch further.
Unlike manual winding watches where I will wind to full (until the crown cannot wind anymore or at least 3/4 of the power reserve if the watch has a Pr indicator), I won't recommend winding automatic watches that many turns on the crown
Cheers
