Interesting Twist

I like the idea of the hours at the top.  Also see the days appear to the left side.  Gotta see it in a black/ silver dial.

Ah ha! Day-Date Chronograph with Wandering Hours: a wonderful addition to the Rieussec stable :-) The dial is very elegant and subdued on the gold version. I see my impression that the main time dial was offset was merely a photo effect.

A "Rising" Rieussec

The term "Rising" reveals all. The numerals for the day, hours, and date progress upwards towards the heavens, although once spent, the hours must inevitably fall back to earth, only to rise again when a new day is born. The story of mankind in a watch!

.. for how the big number on top works... Seems to be the hour indicator, though :-) Interesting twist! Ken

Hmmm

I see it's got two discs in the hours, one in the background for the day/night indicator which rotates every 24 hours and one in the foreground for the hour numbers which rotates every 12 hours. A beautiful warm piece.

You've got it Patrick!

The main hour disc has only 12 hours, so the colored disc underneath is used to indicate day or night, ie, "6 blue" is 6am and when it comes around again the colored disc moves to black for 6pm. I wonder if sunrise/sunset are arbitrary at 6:30 or user-adj...

Hmm, I have a feeling that it's set at 6AM

I have a feeling that the sunrise/set is set right around 6AM and will not likely include any adjustment for the user. A big pain if you live in the very far North or very far South parts of the world.

Buon anno
