This is a very interesting topic

At the beginning of my watch journey I got really attracted by the Extreme World Chronograph, so around the same watch if I'm not wrong but Chrono instead of alarm. I liked the design of the watch, the on/off pushers were interesting and coherent with its spirit and use, and especially with the "cushion" shock absorber system (thus why the watch was that big).

Now I think it would have been too big but I remember being very attracted and still think positively of that period (though wouldn't wear such a watch today).

I would definitely like to have a sporty watch in the catalogue, even in a big case, but not as big (though it may also find its target that way). It should just remain a little less subject to trend evolutions: the pushers, like in the Compressor line-up are something that will more likely come out of fad and make the watch age not very well. Today, we can make very reliable and water-resistant pushers (diver watches from Rolex, Omega for instance....) without needing those bigger features.

Now, when considering a new very sporty watch for more extreme conditions, I can't help thinking about the AMVOX line-up: it was sporty, casual sometimes and very nicely designed. I know they can't take them as a base but going in that direction in terms of style and size would be very cool and worthy of JLC.

Alarm are always cool and quite rare finally (not in JLC's history though). But I may be more attracted by a chrono or a World Time I think.

The Extreme lab pieces are nearly perfect for that task but the only problem imho is that the style is not consensual for such a wider volume offer in a standard line-up and would need different solutions in order to be more affordable of course but that can be done I guess.

So an Amvox-like case with some Extreme lab philosophy would be cool. Not very original but very nice.

I know JLC will find the right way but in the end I just wish it is not as extreme as the Extreme World was (size and style), it has a Dual Time or Chrono or Alarm function (not only a simple 3-hander like the Submariner/Planet Ocean).

In fact, like the Amvox Chrono or the Extreme World series, I would like the watch to have something "different", something new like those two had (and the Navy Seal compressor model).

We already know JLC with such a sportive side in the catalogue so I think it would not be good they don't perpetuate that part and remain with classical watches only. It takes a lot of time, effort and budget to include such watches in the DNA of a brand, hence they should not loose that smile

I hope to see something new in terms of sport watch in January or next year!

Cheers, Mark

Jaeger Lecoultre Extreme World Alarm Tides of Time. A watch, two questions.

 By: amanico : December 1st, 2016-07:46
While visiting my hard disc, I fell on some old pictures of an old model, the Extreme World Alarm, here in the " Tides of Time " version. It was a huge watch, thick, with a strong presence, which may not be a consensual watch, but which is not a bad thing...

I owned this model, only mine was a Rossi ti.

I regret much ever let it go, it was a real cool summer watch on the yellow caoutchouc. Although this blue is also very striking!

Thanks, Raymond. [nt]

It has something that some of other manufacturers lack In house movement Non modular Not too thick Well priced And not too big for my wrist Sadly my generation usually prefer bigger watches and more sporty look As for your question; 1. Yes!! Definitely ye...

Don't get me started!!!!

But since you asked... YES, YES, YES!!! I would VERY MUCH like to see a strong sport line from JLC, however, not in 46.3mm (even though I LOVE my NS Chrono GMT!). I think 43mm is a very nice size for a "sport" watch. I think JLC's Compressor-style strap c...

Yes you are right!!

The first time i saw the new mcc ceramic, I thought they just created a beast!!! I would like to see it in smaller diamater.

I totally agree with your points, Dean. A smaller case than the EWA, that would be great.

With some technical solutions. Extreme Lab III, or Master Compressor... Or both. Best, Nicolas

You know my answer on this question.... LAB III ;)

I do not expect we will see anything st SIHH 2017. I will be surprised as to what JLC will show us?!

I hope JLC do blow our minds with a new LAB...

Something really new, innovative and even more conceptual than the LAB 1!

2 to 3 years. [nt]

42mm big please...

 By: cory : December 1st, 2016-16:31
And damn innovative and conceptual... think even more incredible than the LAB 1 we were presented with in 2007... man that was a year to remember with JLC.

Also would like

A smaller version. Definitely love the mcew and extreme labs just a tad to big.

The only thing JLC NEEDS to do is to keep it accessable, price-wise....

$10k for steel w/o complications; $14-20k for a steel w/complications. Comprehensive marketing campaign. -Dean

Nah... keep it a dream JLC

Out of reach and out this world!

I knew you would. ;)

 By: cory : December 2nd, 2016-19:41
It must be something completely new so no reference or aesthetic to the Master Compressor... something futuristic and concept JLC... like I said out of this world! Im excited.

Hybrid mechanica high end I reckon...

Could a LAB piece fit in the Hybris mechanic collection?

Size matters...

 By: JToddH : December 1st, 2016-11:45
And I guess I'm one of the few that appreciate a hefty watch. I have several in the 45-48mm range and quite enjoy them. Personally, I very much like the EWA and think the size is perfect. I'd be happy to own this beast! As to your questions: 1. Yes 2. No....

On second thought, your point makes a lot of sense...

 By: JToddH : December 1st, 2016-18:43
Having world/time zones on a dive watch is kinda silly. Simmering this design to something more tame might be more logical aftyer all.

I was tempted by this piece quite some time.

Yet, the yellow Rossi caught my attention. And it all stopped when ins trapped it onto my wrist realising that another \'big brother\' is not for my collection. 1) Yes but let it be bold and wearable at the same time please. 2) Yes and yes. I just love th...

from the manufacture. I would like to see something like that maybe in a more contained size but with that personalty and character. Why not use the knowledge adquiered with the compressor series and build something new,? A case with a shock-absorb system...

Definitely agree!

A Geophysic with a world time, alarm and true seconds would be a real heavy hitter - especially if one could do it in the current case dimensions A clear thumbs up!

+1! [nt]

 By: KMII : December 1st, 2016-23:03

Indeed, something a bit more elegant would fit quite well within the Geophysic line.

 By: Sebi : December 2nd, 2016-02:04
After all, they took it out of the grave and made it a new line, so it is time to offer new models, last ones were 2015, time is passing by!

I do hope so... [nt]
