Jaeger-LeCoultre

Choice is good!

(Just a general viewpoint from my angle. Can't go into every message due to busy schedule)

Periodically, the forum will prove size (or the lack of) counts and the debate will resurface intermittently but regularly.

Personally, based on my contact with watch enthusiasts. I would divide the watch buyers into 5 groups, and no matter how much is discussed or debated, there will be very little concensus:

(1) Those who are not overly concern with size, but would go for a watch they like regardless of sizes.

(2) Those who think watches should be of at least a certain size (38mm and up)is important but don't care what others like

(3) Those who think watches should not be too big (38mm or smaller) but are not bother with the availability of big watches.

(4) Those who love big watches and couldn't understand who is buying up all the small watches, if they could, they would want all small watches to be stopped.

(5) Those who love small watches and hate big watches, if they could, they want the big watches stopped too!

In my personal opinion, big watches are no longer a trend but is now effectively mainstream. We might of course fancy small watches again in the future, but today, there is little doubt as to where the money is.

Having said that, Jaeger-LeCoultre is not just going after the big watch segment. In my opinion, JLC has kept most of the smaller watches current and in fact has just refreshed or introduced the last few years Master compressor Automatic, Reverso Platinum 2, Reverso RDM, Reverso Duetto, Reverso Duo, Reverso Grande Taille, Reverso Classic, Reverso Dame, Reverso. Lady, Reverso Gran'Sport Automatique & Reverso Gran'Sport Lady.

More than this, the complete revival of Reverso 101 range plus the new Ideale are all smaller watches by any industry standards.

Of course, other than the selected discontinued models, The Master Geographic, Master RDM & Master Ultra Thin are still doing well commercially. a far cry from the days when only Reverso sells in most market.

So now JLC no longer depended only on Reverso, but in addition, there are the completely rejuvenated Master Range, The Compressors, the Atmos, the 101s, the Ideale and the AMVOX. The brand is in a much more comfortable situation by any standards, IMPO.

Vintage watches comes in various shapes and sizes, and we should all come out and state our preferences. Some like it small and others like it big. The good thing about the situation is that we all have our individual choices.

We are living in a wonderful world.
