Jaeger-LeCoultre

Another look at the Jaeger LeCoultre Duometre UTT

One of the stunning JLC watches that debuted earlier this year was the Jaeger LeCoultre Duometre UTT Unique Travel Time.  This watch is available as a limited edition of 100 pieces in white gold and only available from the JLC Paris Boutique.  I wasn't planning any trips to Paris this year, but a few months ago we had the great fortune of having our very own PuristSPro JLC moderator Nicolas bring it over to us in SoCal to make the Duometre UTT's first showing in the area.  I can't believe that it's been four months since I last saw this watch so I just wanted to share a few more photos.

The Duometre UTT has two time subdials.  At the upper right hand side of the dial is the home time that displays the home hour and minutes.  On the upper left is the subdial for the local time display.  What's unique about this local time subdial is the use of the jumping hour display that can be set forwards and backwards in one hour increments with the minutes hand set separately.  Below each of these subdials are power reserve indicators hands with a small + and - printed on the dial.

One of the most interesting details on the watch is the world map display.  The globe is made of bronze with bluish colored finish.  When you handle it in person you can see the visual depth of the curved globe.  Around the globe is a polished ring with the time zone indication (+12 / -12) and day night indicator.

The watch is large at 42.5mm in diameter with a thickness of 13.5mm.  The lugs are also  thick but has a elegant curved to fit smaller wrists.  The crown is easy to twist and has an embossed JLC logo with a matte finished background.

I was able to steal the UTT from Nicolas and spend about 10 minutes on my wrist.  Even at 42.5mm diameter the curved lugs really helped wrap the navy blue crocodile strap to my small wrist.  The case is made of white gold and had a really nice heft to it without being too overly heavy.
The two pushers are on the left hand side of the case.  Each pusher has alternating brushed and polished finishes with the upper pusher (at the 10 o'clock position) advances the second time zone display by one hour, and the lower pusher (at the 8 o'clock position) decreases by one hour.  Very easy to activate and set the jumping hour.

The sapphire caseback shows off the JLC caliber 383 manual wind movement with two barrels.  Each mainspring barrel provides a 50 hour power reserve.  The outer edges of the caseback has 24 cities engraved for referencing the world timezones.

And here's a video I made showing the Duometre UTT at various angles.

These pictures were taken at the JLC Beverly Hills Boutique and we're always treated to some very special watches including this JLC Duometre Spherotourbillon that was presented as a novelty from the 2012 SIHH.  More pics on the Spherotourbillon coming up soon.

Hope you all enjoyed the pics and video!  I'm looking forward to the next time Nicolas visits SoCal or perhaps a PuristS trip out to visit him at his Paris playground.

Regards,
