Ocean 2000 gasket size

Mar 28, 2020,11:46 AM

Hey there,

I recently acquired an Ocean 2000 and it has not left my wrist since smile Since it will probably get a lot of wear, I'd like it to be waterproof. I did a quick pressure test and found that the crown is leaking ever so slightly. What would be the correct sizes for the gaskets? As i understand, there are two O-rings in the crown, one in the tube, and a flat circular gasket for the back.

Thanks,
Tomislav

Are you doing a DIY repair and where are you located?

In the US, the official PD/IWC service center is Superior Watch in New York. They would have the parts for your watch.

Thanks for your reply!

I'm doing a DIY job, as I'm located in Macedonia and far from any authorized service centers. I've done quite a few DIY gasket changes, I think the Ocean shouldn't be a problem given its construction.

You're welcome

And, welcome to WatchProSite. Can you take the watch apart to figure out the gasket size or has the gasket been destroyed?

Yes.

Taking it apart is not a problem. However, the tube gasket, and especially one of the crown gaskets, are so tiny that I'm afraid I won't be able to get an accurate measurement. The back gasket shouldn't be particularly problematic, the bigger crown gasket...

Impressive...👍

That you even have access to such cutout drawings of a vintage watch. That said, I wish there was a way to help with this.

Thanks anyway.

I'll search around some more, and if nothing comes up... it's off to the drawing board ))

Since I have the time (due to the current unfortunate situation), I played around with the caliper. Sizes that seem to work: - 3.00mm ID x 4.00mm OD for the big crown gasket (o-ring, 0.50mm cross section) - 1.30mm ID x 2.30mm OD for the tube gasket (o-rin...

I was going to suggest

if possible you order a crown gasket assortment and keep it handy ...
