Not sure this watch makes a whole lot of sense outside this particular car ownership scenario, on the oyher hand why not? This one is actually a bit slimmer than the iconic classic steel model, so does not wear too bad comfort-wise despite the golden casework. Hopefully the IWC Armor gild is in fact more scratch resistant vs regular gold variants, but we shall see...

I think the difference in thickness is explained by the fact that this watch comes with a small second vs a central second, and IWC used this opportunity to save on the total precious metal weight Which again is good for comfort.
The regular version has a more classic look.
But this has a more “3D” dial with the raised indexes and dial pattern. I would prefer this version too. Great catch and have fun!

The regular version which I got only recently was a gateway drug for me as far as BPs are concerned Aready ordered a beige ceramic case/brown dial Mohave Desert edition and thinking about adding a white ceramic Lake Tahoe perpetual.

I was thinking this would be a weeked watch in my rotation, but the comfort on the wrist is unexpectedly decent (so far) so it may in fact be getting more wrist time

But the watch is surprizingly not that flashy, due to the sandblasted finish of the case throughout, other than some polished bevels here and there.

Yes, this is definitely a distinctive feature of this model.
Love the texture and the depth of the dial. Makes a big difference from the normal version IMHO. Enjoy!
