My new K3 arrived!
My new Sarpaneva watch arrived from Finland! So I decided to share my pleasure by posting my pictures of the watch! I got crazy about Stepan's K3 a while back and just had to have one; for me it's a timepiece piece that's very special in many ways. First of all - I find the design a really unique and authentic look: the case with the dial and hands and especially - the moon. I found it a beautiful touch that he even places moon face as an ornament on the box itself (sorry for the dust and smudges!).
Some people may find it has a bit sombre looking, I think I read somewhere about the melancholic Finnish temperament that Stepan mentioned in its face, but I prefer it much more to the yellow smiley-like images that are so typical for many moonphase watches.
Second is the choice of materials for my watch: white gold moon with the red gold case. I prefer this combination personally as I find it more natural when the moon has a pale look (and I think it contrasts very nice with red gold).
I was also impressed with the presentation box! For me it looks better than a lot of the brands I've seen in the market. It's evidently requires a lot of hand work and also has a special Finnish design concept to it...I think it is made of some kind of a tropical wood? There are four big bolts on the sides that connect all the sections: hinges and wood together, giving it cool look that complements the mechanical appearance of the watch.
Anyway, you can see that I'm a big fan, and I wanted to share this with others who like Stepan's work!
Greetings all,
Sans Cesse

The original Korona K1-3 was 44 mm, only the bezel was scalloped, and they were indeed sold out some time ago (end of 2008 I think). The current version, with the (imho better looking by far) 'fully scalloped' case, is 42 mm, and the precious metal versio...
