MB&F HM11 "The Architect" time

As an ardent admirer of MB&F and their creative and independent spirit, I've been lusting after their work for some time. My recent interest in watches really only began after randomly stumbling upon an article about MB&F and their MAD1 a year and a half or so ago. After I found a MAD1, I was then fortunate to find an LM Perpetual in my favorite color, and then really wanted to add one of their Horological Machines to 'round things out'.

When I saw a special sneak preview of the HM11 last year, I was left intrigued after a brief glance.  It's connection to architecture resonated with me, as did it's unique design, not to mention it seemed  more wearable than some of the other HM pieces.  The stars somehow aligned and I was fortunate to have the opportunity to secure one of the 10 or so pieces coming to the USA.  I was worried my wife would divorce me over the idea, as until recently she couldn't care less about watches, nor tell the difference between an Apple watch and a Breguet.  The stars further aligned when she saw press releases and videos of the HM11, as she was simply awed by the creativity, and found it stunning.  She encouraged its acquisition.

Needless to say, it's so interesting, and unique to my eye. Learning how it is assembled is madness, as the watch has to be assembled in the case itself. It's super light and wearable. The four wings of the house, temperature, power reserve, time and a sapphire crown are really fun, as is the winding technique.  It's hard to beat MB&F's creativity, and this has to be one of the most easily wearable HM designs.  If there is a downside, it draws a little more attention than I am accustomed to.
