I fully agree with you but Swatch Group managed to get a "general" patent. I also think that it is amazing they got it but the fact is that they received it in Switzerland (which is easy), EU (which is more difficult), USA and Japan. I have read the patent several times and no, they do not mention (at least they do not limit to) any specific grad (like grad 5) for instance. Again, I fully agree with you that it is one of the most stupid patents I have seen.
And yes, the strategy of the Swatch Group is clear... You might win but you will be dead..
