I think I know what you have seen. It is probably not the barrel housing but it is the rachet wheel.
No worry about the track on the rachet wheel. It is the contact track of the wheel against the bridge.
I've choosen this layout to ensure a perfect engangement of the winding wheels and the power reserve gears.
And if you look closely you can see a little bit grease on this wheel.
