One very important distinction with AP...

I have made this comment before.  AP still makes "true" Limited Editions.  Hublot, IMO, does not.

AP has watches like the Montoya, RB1, RB2, Alinghi Polaris & Alinghi Team Chrono, Survivor, T3, etc., that have never been replicated.  These are what I consider "true" Limited Editions.  The countless Offshore iterations where only a dial color or material is changed do exist.  I agree to that.

But Hublot creates an awesome new watch like say the F1, and within months they are already making new versions in different colors.  This matches AP's numerous repeat of the themes dial in different colors.  So where are the real LEs?  A totally unique watch with unique case detailing, hands, crown, etc., where those details don't pop up again on other models.

I LOVE Hublot's new Ferrari watch.  Enough to buy.  But I don't own a Ferrari and rather not have that logo on the dial.  So I will just wait a few months.  I will be shocked if Hublot does not re-issue this watch in different materials, colors, dial, etc.  If I am wrong, then Hublot will finally have made a real LE watch.

Too many releases

 By: TraceyB : October 19th, 2012-10:06
Having been apart of an antique dealer family for 3 generations, i would say that in regards of editions "less is more". I do enjoy the releases that Hublot put out, some alot more than others. But does it not diminish the value of the brand as a whole in...

It's okay to have that feeling....

.. 100 people have 100 thoughts and feelings. It is okay and natural. I am sure you are right to think that way. But others keep buying more and more Hublot as the new edition is released. Otherwise, they can't do better and better every year. And, no, yo...

My son who has a big bang has told me many times, how it's the 'fashionable' watch to have. I am told it appears in music, film and with all the superstars they use to represent there brand, in a world where social media can reach so many people, one woul...

You're not the only one to feel that way regarding too many limited edition pieces

 By: AnthonyTsai : October 19th, 2012-12:53
The way how you feel is the same way how AP Offshore collectors felt towards AP when they made a lot of limited edition Offshores couple years back. Personally, I'm surprised Hublot is able to continue making all these limited edition pieces year in and y...

Hublot took on the "genre" pioneered by Rolex and AP, and is very successful at it

As a Purists, sometimes I think it's all marketing fluff. I even coined the term PamRooBang to describe "that" group of watches. But if one is ready, even eager, to criticize....one must also be ready to compliment. That's how my own thought process calm ...

+1.

PamRooBang is such an appropriate term :-))) I too was making a lot of fuss when AP 'destroyed' the ROO with too many LEs, much like Hublot now. But at the end, it's got more and more people buying ROO and the brand is recognized even more. For long time ...

almost missed this...

Totally Agree

 By: TraceyB : October 20th, 2012-12:47
I could agree with your comments more, my thoughts is that the market will become flooded with models which aren't an accessory to your 'ferrari' or a unique model. I do think there are some great Hublot watches which are at the forefront of horology, but...

I TOTALLY DISAGREE...

I think it's important for Hublot to continue releasing limited editions for several reasons: 1) It allows them to gain repeat business through its large existing customer base. In the past, a lot of companies left this business on the table by offering s...

If you know about 'Hublot', they must be doing something right??

 By: SirJean : October 30th, 2012-06:18
First of all , Hublot doesn't just change the dial colours and call it an 'LE' model as some people may assume. Hublot has so many different pieces with various components, materials, and even different shapes and sizes within its collection which include...

Very well put SirJean

I'm a huge Audemars fan, but I'm also a big hublot fan. With Hublot, I feel like I get more for my money and I have many options. I love reading about new releases on purists, checking out updates on Hublot's website, and visiting boutiques to see new mod...
