Hublot meanderings

Jun 29, 2019,12:30 PM

I do not presently own a Hublot, but am thinking of one for my next purchase - either the UNICO Ceramic Titanium Skeleton or a MECA-10 in either Titanium or Ceramic Blue (I *love* blue watches).

I'm partial the to UNICO Ceramic Titanium, but the 10 day power reserve and triple bridgework of the MECA is quite stunning smile

Here are some I found on a recent trip to the AD.

Enjoy!

Just look at those bridges! The Magic Gold version is fun - looks "burnished" to me

Do not buy the Sapphire..

If you are looking for something casual and low key (ie that cheap plastic watch look) do not get the sapphire case. I originally thought the sapphire with the clear case will look low profile and under the radar..... boy am I WRONG. Every where I go ppl ...

Quit your complaining…

Low key?

 By: notdnl : June 29th, 2019-17:02
Appreciate your perspective and experience. Personally, I don't see an all sapphire glass watch as low key in any way, as such I wouldn't go into it thinking that. I would absolutely expect folks to ask about something like that. Not sure if you are being...

I think “low key” might be the wrong choice of words perhaps.

I’m not a Hublot owner, and until this week I haven’t had a Hublot on my wrist since maybe 2006-2008 time. Passed by a boutique this week and stopped in. The Sapphire was one reference I tried. It’ screams, in both the clear sapphire and of course even mo...

Agreed they look more expensive

And this is part of the issue, as many collectors give Hublot a hard time because they are seen as impersonating Richard Mille. I can understand that, given the similar tonneau case shape. However, I think, as you say, Hublot offers something that is far ...

In the early days yes they were being seen as an “impersonation” of the RM..

.. but lately lots of other Brand’s are picking up the sapphire trends.. eg.. B&R, Jacob&Co, H.Moser&Cie, Cartier, Girard Perregaux, Rebellion, Cabestan, MB&F and even the great Greubel-Forsey join the party. (Photos credit to respective o...

MECA-10 is an impressive watch.

Appreciate the photos - good to see them under real lighting conditions and not just marketing fan fare. That blue ceramic....

Meca 10, but not in the blue ceramic.

A great watch ruined by making it look like a toy one.

I understand

 By: notdnl : June 29th, 2019-17:04
It's definitely not for everyone, and respect that some may see it as a toy or cheesey. I just can't get over the blue I'm a sucker for alternative and non-standard case materials, so this one has me...

Both...
