HP, Not late at all...

HP,

Not late at all I still have both. I feel the same way in terms if it being chunky. It's a watch I'd love to keep but I find it very limiting. I love wearing all black watches with a suit and this watch just doesn't work. Appreciate the response.

Jeremy

Hublot GMT Ceramic vs Audemars Piguet Forged Carbon

 By: jeremyr : February 8th, 2013-16:12
I recently aquired the Hublot GMT Ceramic. The dial is super cool but now i'm questioning wether I need two all black watches as I already have the AP Forged carbon in 44m. Here are some pictures I took let me know your thoughts. Be as brutal and honest a...

They are totally different watches..

... with different functions. Honestly, I wouldn't mind owning both at all. I DO like black watches :-) Envious! Ken

Thanks for looking

Kih, Thanks for looking and writing back. I agree they both do serve different functions in terms of use. Honestly I own several chrono watches and can safely say I've never pushed them for any use. The GMT function is useful but it lacks date which bothe...

Well, if you don't use Chrono function...

... then, I would say, "keep GMT".... objectively.... Personally, I don't mind watches without date, after all, this is "purists" site :-) Ken

Ken, Ha ha you are...

Ken, Ha ha you are correct about the purist site and date. Thanks again. Best Regards, Jeremy

Thank you!

... as a moderator, that is my view :-) Ken

Yup. Same here... I don't like the writings on the bezel on Hublot

but it's a different watch, not a regular chrono. The AP, no doubt, gorgeous watch as well. They way I see it, it's a win-win situation and I wish I had those haha!

i think

the GMT is a very unique watch. I would keep the GMT for sure.

Technik thanks for the reply...

Technik thanks for the reply I am leaning more towards the hublot as well. Best Regards, Jeremy

I will be frank with you Jeremy...

The GMT Ceramic is absolutely not my cup of tea... I didn't find it legible and as Ken said they ar very different watches. So I would choose the AP because I think that Hublot has more convincing watches than this one. Fx

FX, I appreciate the honesty...

FX, I appreciate the honesty that is what I wanted to hear. The watch under normal lighting is very legible, however the hands have no lume as well as the dial. If you are in a dark room you can't see a thing. Having said that I would agree with you that ...

Even thought both watches are "black", they are totally different IMO

If you want to sell one of them and are having difficulty making the decision, I would wear the AP one day and the next day the Hublot. Do this for a period of 2 weeks. You should have an idea which one you like better after these 2 weeks because you'll f...

Anthony, I was alternating watches...

 By: jeremyr : February 11th, 2013-19:37
Anthony, I was alternating watches all weekend and have made my decision. I'm keeping the AP. I find the AP more comfortable and much easier to read in low light. I also had a party to go to over the weekend and the AP worked better with a suit jacket. Th...

Somewhat late to the game, but...

I think you made the right choice with AP over Hublot. I find the Hublot way too chunky to be a regular watch, though you pull it off superbly. It also lacks the Hublot DNA, though some might call that an advantage.

Tough call Jeremy...

They are both nice watches and even though I am a fairly big Hublot fan... I would say keep the AP! This is one of my least favourite Hublots, as already commented it is the writing on the bezel which puts me off, it also is not easy to read in my opinion...

The writing will get tiresome

 By: jeremyr : February 22nd, 2013-17:15
I love the dial it kind if reminds me if an urwick. However it is very hard to read especially in low light. The bezel bothers me a bit as well I feel I'll get tired if looking at it. I really wish they added markers on it. I fell in love with it quickly ...

Alike but different

 By: SirJean : May 11th, 2014-17:54
Just like the brands themselves, they are alike in their core values but still totally different brands. With the structure of the watch they have a similar distinctive octagonal case but Hublot has a round bezel . The materials are different . The AP is ...

My verdict is simple, YES! You need TWO black beauties :))

I got 3 black Hublots (should get a shiny one for my next one), not to mention my forged carbon Linde Werdelin (also all black). We can never get enough "blackies". Congrats!
