Horological Meandering

The diversity of watchmaking in Glashütte.

Besides the two big players Lange and GO there are plenty of other interesting watch brands located in the small Saxon city of Glashütte.

Here is a sample of three of them:

Nomos is well known for its Bauhaus design watches with quality in-house movements.
The Tangente "blue-gold" model is a fine example of their style.

As usual, the movement is well executed.

Union Glashütte is the sister-company of GO and part of the Swatch group. They do not operate in all regions/countries and are traditionally strong in the German market.
Their " 1893 Alexander Dürrstein" chronograph (typical tongue breaking german name smile ), is a classy and elegant watch.
Case and dial quality is definitely at the same level as GO.

The movement is the manual version of the 7750 completely decorated and assembled in Glashütte : pretty good looking, isn't it ?

Then there is the small brand of Mühle Glashütte : quite a few attractive watches in their catalogue.
Case, dial and bracelet quality definitely beyond the price point.

There are a few more interesting brands located in Glashütte like Tutima,Wempe and of course Moritz Grossman of which I hope to get one of their watches for my collection.

Price point and horological ambition aside : all these watches share principles of quality and solid watch making.
You cannot go wrong with a watch manufactured in Glashütte : I am a big fan!

Best,
Gerard
