Valjoux 9 ...

Hello Nilo,
as you already guessed, this is a Valjoux caliber 9.
I can't tell you much more about this watch, but my guess would be that it's probably put together somewhere in the sixties or later.
Although  the overall style is stemming from earlier days, the movement clearly is a late example. I'd say it's even looking like someone put together the
"rest of the golden era" and had to add a few new bits..... smile
There is a typical mix of new and old parts - you can see some very good quality old steel parts (straight grain finish, chamfered edges) second tier parts (steel parts with basic de-burring and sand blast finish)
and some crude wire springs. This mix is typical  during those times when compynies in swithzerland used old stocks and mixed it with pragmatically crude new parts to complete and use up the remaining stocks.

As you can see , the "Guinand" engravement in the dust cover also shows craftmanship was lacking as well - its a machine/milling engravement where the first letters the setup was screwed up...smile

The balance cock looks a bit strange (could be the lighting though), at least in pictures the surface treatement looks different from the other plates.
Also, only basic quality escapement parts (flat spring balance and basic regulator of later design).

Overall still a nice and good quality piece!
Best wishes!

I knew that this watch was "too good to be true". The fact is that it is very accurate and I will keep it on my home office desk. Cheers, Nilo
