Horological Meandering

Hi All, I'll be in Austria for a business trip and intend to drive from Linz to Baselworld on 26 March 2011. I'd appreciate any advice or tips from members. This will be my first solo road trip in Europe, so any information would be helpful. Wouldn't mind... 

since (1) the Swiss give public transport priority over private one and (ii) therefore, in general and especially during major events such as the Basel fair (which double the inhabitant number of a city like Basel), parking place will be rare and expensiv... 

However, I arrive in Vienna a few days earlier and will be renting a car to go to Linz for business. Thereafter, the prospect of driving on gorgeous long European roads (a rare luxury where I come from here in Singapore) is too inviting to ignore. Moreove... 

Hi Ed, I have driven to Basel and will do again this time. The big problem is traffic! It is either leave early or arrive later in the day as it is chaos! The option that I have done in the past is to leave your car the other side of town (or at the hotel... 

As already advised, driving is fine as long as you don't try to drive in the centre of town/to the actual exhibition during Baselworld. Drive to your hotel and Tram it. I'll be there definitely on Wednesday 30th and possibly also Sat 26th. See you at the ...

Hi Ed, You already have your room confirmed? If not, I doubt you would now find a hotel in Basel (they were all sold out months ago) so you will more than likely be in one of the outlying towns unless you are very lucky. Andrew

is that Purists GTGs start in the morning ;-). Honestly, many Purist watch aficionadoes stay in Zurich. In Basel, hotels charge 3x the normal price and more for a room, thus the hobbyists stay in Zurich. Trains go very reliably several times a hour. Best,... 

Thanks for the heads up. These last minute decisions to detour from business meetings is a result of too much enthusiasm and too little planning... sigh... sounds like its more sensible to stay in Zurich then... though somewhat less convenient. Thanks aga... 

Hi Ed, What do you want to know about it? Its a King Power 48mm case made of carbon, the movement is the HUB4247, the face has several different colours of superluminova and the strap is rubber and Nomex (the fire proof material of race suits). Its a 500 ... 

just wondering whether it's (either version) out in the wild? I've seen press/official photos but no wrist shots or the like. has delivery started already? (logically it should have) curious why not much interest in the piece as I am interested in acquiri... 

As far as I know, they have not been delivered yet but I did not order one as I wanted one of the special 10 but could not get my hands on one! I think they were meant to be delivered somewhere around this month from memory but I think they have been work... 

The AD here in Singapore has one available shortly, and I may pick it up. I really do like the piece. If I do, I may bring it up to Baselworld... Cheers ed

Ed and I were given rooms in a hotel in Badenweiler, Germany...but we're told it's close.

I have stayed near there before and it is not too far away. Not as convenient as Zurich (in terms of lots of trains) but certainly closer by car.
